About Church of the Name of Mary in Jasienna

A church from 2001 that replaced a wooden church demolished in 2000.

The Church of the Name of Mary is a parish church in Jasienna in Nowy Sącz County. The brick building was put up at the turn of the century on the site of a former wooden church.

From wooden to brick

Pastoral work initially centred on a wooden church built from 1925. It was demolished in 2000. A year earlier construction of a new, brick church had begun. It was blessed in 2001 by the Bishop of Tarnów, Wiktor Skworc, and consecrated on 10 September 2017 by Bishop Andrzej Jeż.

Authors of the design and furnishings

The church was designed by the architect Bożena Bulanda. The main altar was made by Andrzej Pasoń, and the side altars, font, Stations of the Cross and reliquary by Robert Motyka. The paintings for the side altars were painted and the stained glass designed by Marek Niedojadko, and the stained glass was made by the stained-glass workshop of K. Paczka and A. Ćwilewicz.
