A postmodernist church from 1990-1994 on the Oficerskie estate, with an altar on dolomite rock.
The Church of Divine Mercy stands at ul. bp. W. Bandurskiego 12 on the Oficerskie estate, in the Grzegórzki district. It is a postmodernist building from the 1990s, built of brick, wood and galvanised sheet metal.
Preparations for building began in 1982, but the permit was withdrawn. Work started again in 1990, when the site was donated by the President of Poland in exile, Edward Raczyński. The church was built in 1990-1994, designed by Stanisław Niemczyk and Marek Kuszewski. It was consecrated by Cardinal Franciszek Macharski on 15 May 2000.
The altar is wooden, and beneath the altar table lies dolomite rock. The tabernacle, with a gilded front, is set on a brick plinth in the shape of a pyramid. The Stations of the Cross were made by Stanisław Dyga in 1996, and the image of Divine Mercy was painted by Agata Skowrońska on an oak panel.
