About Chestnut Garden (Kasztanowy Ogród Krakowian)

A pocket park from 2021 on ul. Wita Stwosza, with two play houses shaped like chestnuts.

The Chestnut Garden, in municipal sources the Kasztanowy Ogród Krakowian, is a pocket park on ulica Wita Stwosza in District I Stare Miasto. It was created in July 2021 and is a play area for children with the shade of trees and places to sit.

What is here

The Municipal Greenspace Authority lists two distinctive play houses shaped like chestnuts, linked by rope walkways, stairs and ladders. There is also greenery: trees, shrubs and plants that give plenty of shade in summer, as well as benches for resting.

What a pocket park is

This is the name for a small green space laid out in the middle of a city. The city creates such spaces to increase biodiversity, encourage activity and shorten residents' way to greenery.

Nearby

The garden lies less than a kilometre from the Planty Park and the Botanical Garden, and about 0.8 km from St Florian's Gate.
