A larch chapel from 1934, known in wartime as a partisan chapel, with a 1984 memorial to the victims.
The Chapel at Podchełmie is a wooden Roman Catholic church in Grybów, in the Grybów deanery of the Diocese of Tarnów. It is dedicated to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus and belongs to the parish of St Catherine in Grybów.
It was built in 1934 by the brothers Ignacy and Bernardyn Dziedziak, both priests. During the Second World War Podchełmie was partisan territory, and the Germans called the chapel the "Banditen Kirche". In 1984 a monument commemorating the victims of the war was unveiled here, to a concept by Witold Popławski, made by Prof. Bronisław Chromy of Kraków.
The chapel is built of larch, with a sheet-metal roof, and has a single nave with a rectangular chancel closed on three sides. It has a tower with a highlander-style spire and two symmetrical sacristies. Inside are altars with images of the Sacred Heart, the Immaculate Conception and St Joseph, as well as stained glass, and a wooden plaque commemorates Fr Ignacy Dziedziak. The chapel at Podjawórze lies nearby.
