Diabli Kamień (Devil's Stone)

About Diabli Kamień (Devil's Stone)

A small mushroom-shaped rock in the forest on the slopes of Wał in Lichwin, reached from the trail from Gromnik.

Diabli Kamień pod Wałem (Devil's Stone below Wał) is a small rock outcrop shaped like a mushroom, hidden in the forest on the south-western slopes of the hill Wał. It lies in Lichwin in Pleśna municipality, in the Rożnów Foothills, in a forest called Piekiełko.

What it looks like

The rock is less than two metres high. However, it stands on a ridge, so from below it looks larger.

How to get there

A green walking and cycling trail runs nearby, from Gromnik over the ridge of Wał to Lichwin. From the agritourism farm “Chata pod Wałem” a path to the stone is marked out. The rock is hidden in the forest, on the left side of the trail, at some distance from it.

Nearby

Not far away are traces of a paint and varnish factory, which used the ochre extracted here. The Germans dismantled it in 1943. Closer, in Lichwin, there is a quarry.

Practical information

  • The site is in a forest, with no facilities. You need comfortable shoes and should remember that the path to the rock is not paved.
  • Access is not restricted, but the state of the waymarking should be checked before setting out.
