The last working synagogue in Dąbrowa Tarnowska, today the Jewish Memorial Room with the original furnishings of the prayer hall.
The former synagogue at Daszyńskiego 8 in Dąbrowa Tarnowska is housed in a private flat. It was the last working synagogue in the town and the last house of prayer in Western Galicia to function until the end.
The synagogue was founded in 1972, when the Roth family could not use the main synagogue during its renovation. It operated until December 1995, that is, until the death of the last observant Jew in the town.
In 1996 the Jewish Memorial Room was set up here, a branch of the regional museum. The collections are now looked after by the Municipal and Commune Cultural Centre. In the prayer hall the original furnishings have survived: the aron ha-kodesh (Torah ark), the cantor's lectern, the bimah, liturgical books, ritual objects and Hebrew wall inscriptions with the Decalogue and the lions of Judah.
The former great synagogue is described in a separate entry: Synagogue in Dąbrowa Tarnowska. Not far away is also the Jewish cemetery.
