An archaeological site in Baczyn with over 400 graves of the Lusatian culture, discovered in 1964 in the Zamczysko fields.
The Lusatian culture cemetery in Baczyn is an archaeological site in Liszki municipality, in Kraków County. It was discovered in 1964 in farmland, at a place called Zamczysko, in the eastern part of the village.
Excavations were carried out from 24 August to 19 September 1964 and from 2 August to 7 September 1965. More than 400 graves with varied burial rites were found, along with many objects of everyday use. An early medieval stronghold also existed in the same place. The long-term research was carried out by J. and A. Krauss.
The site is entered in the register of immovable monuments of the Lesser Poland Voivodeship. The available sources do not describe any relics visible on the surface, and the area is farmland, so one should not expect a developed visitor site. The Zimny Dół reserve lies about 1.4 km away.
