About Jewish Cemetery in Dąbrowa Tarnowska

The Jewish cemetery in Dąbrowa Tarnowska lies on Berka Joselewicza Street and covers about two hectares. It was established at the turn of the 17th and 18th centuries.

What has survived in the cemetery

Several dozen matzevot stand on the grounds of the necropolis, as well as an ohel in which local tsadikim are buried. There are also eight post-war gravestones. Six oaks recognised as natural monuments grow here. The last burial was recorded in 2005.

A place of remembrance of the victims of the Holocaust

In the cemetery there are mass graves of 802 people killed by the Germans in the Danielnik forest, and a monument in their honour. There are also two monuments commemorating 36 and 180 Jews respectively.

Practical information

  • Address: ul. Berka Joselewicza, Dąbrowa Tarnowska.
  • This is a cemetery, so solemnity is required; men customarily cover their heads. Check the rules of entry and the key to the gate with the town office or the museum, as the sources do not give them.
  • Not far away, about 200 m, stands the Synagogue in Dąbrowa Tarnowska, and next to it the Dąbrowa Powiśle Museum.
