Basilica from 1948-65 on a Greek cross plan with a dome, referring to Palladio's Villa Rotonda.
The Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Dąbrowa Tarnowska is a parish church of the Dąbrowa Tarnowska deanery in the Diocese of Tarnów. It also bears the title of basilica.
The building was erected in 1948-65 to a design by the architect Zbigniew Wzorek, and construction was led by the master builder Piotr Marek. The final design was chosen by the Bishop of Tarnów Jan Stepa. The consecration in 1965 was performed by Bishop Jerzy Ablewicz.
The church refers to pre-war classicism and modernism and to the Italian Villa Rotonda by Andrea Palladio. It was built of brick and reinforced concrete on a Greek cross plan, with a dome over the central part. The arms of the cross are preceded by monumental eight-column porticoes, and the northern arm has a four-column portico. In the naves there are columns, and the vaults are decorated with coffers.
In the area it is worth looking in at the Synagogue in Dąbrowa Tarnowska and the Dąbrowa Powiśle Museum.
