A row of stars for musicians and filmmakers on the Czerwieński Boulevard below Wawel Hill, founded in 2008.
The Avenue of Stars (Aleja Gwiazd) in Kraków runs along the Czerwieński Boulevard, below Wawel Hill. It is a row of stars set into the paving, commemorating artists whom the city wished to honour.
The avenue was founded in 2008 as a joint project of the Kraków authorities and the radio station RMF FM. The first star was unveiled on 28 June 2008. Stars are awarded to outstanding musicians and bands from Poland and abroad; those honoured include Krzysztof Krawczyk and the band Maanam.
The film stars form a separate group. They are given to guests of the Off Plus Camera festival, for example Roman Polański and Andrzej Wajda. Next to them the handprints of those honoured are also pressed into the paving, which is not the case with the music stars. A walk along the boulevard is easy to combine with a visit to Wawel Royal Castle.
